Its blown, as Onkyo receivers so often do. If the receiver is out of warranty it is not worth the cost of repair. I see they can be had for $279. It is impossible to build a receiver for that price that will be fit for purpose.

Recommend:- avoid cheap receivers and Onkyo in particular.

Let us know how it goes. I've had good luck when contacting them for various questions. Also buy yourself a laptop fan(amazon about 16 bucks) if you can and put it on the heated area to keep it cool. That's what I did and never had problems. Also if you can post pics of how you have it setup at home. You can PM me if you have any questions. Good luck.

$279? That receiver was made in the mid '90s. It's probably 'worth' about $20. That model was the first receiver I ever owned and it is still going strong in my brother in law's garage.

You should stop with the blanket condemnations of receivers in general and Onkyo in particular. It's only the last few years that Onkyo has turned to crap.

Whoa didn't realize this was an older model. I would say get something newer from here: Accessories4less: High End Audio at Low End Prices!
