Hello,

My name is Emily and I have just joined this forum.

I purchased a used Onkyo TX SV414 PRO. When I connected the CD recorder/player, tape deck, and a phonograph. I then put a CD in the
player and the CD began to play for about 10 seconds and then I heard
a "tick, tick, tick coming from the receiver and then there was no sound
for about 10 seconds.
This happened twice and then no sound at all. The digital readout then
said "protect". I tried the tape player and another CD - no sound.

I am unable to locate any information on this problem.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?????

I am not a happy camper.

Thank you for any help you may offer.
Emily

Welcome!

Check your speaker connections. Disconnect all of your speakers from the binding posts and make sure no stray wires are around posts. Try playing a CD again. If it's okay, then you probably had a wire shorting out one of the posts. If not, you might have a faulty unit.

If it's okay after you check the first thing, reconnect your speakers and be careful to have no wires touching any of the other posts. The same goes for the wire connected at the speakers.
