My GTP-750 died and now I need a pre amp, I am looking to purchase a used Onkyo TX-SR875 as a pre amp and use the receiver's amps for the souround channels. The guy wants me to pay $450 for it, thoughts??

The 875 is great if you get one that hasnt been run too hot, they can go bang!
Whatever you do, stick a 120mm or larger fan on top, blowing air upwards.
For what you get, that price is amazing.

Ask about its history.

ps I own one and love it, over 3 years old now and still as new.
Its had a 200mm fan on it since I bought it though.
Cant stress enough that you should get a fan!

If you dont need to use any HDMI processing, turn the 'Control' off under section 7-5 of the menu.
It uses an extra 50W.
HDMI through still works without it.

I just got it yesterday. it is so damned complicated!

I am not use to a receiver that needs to have stuff done through the TV. I have it hooked up to my ADCOM amp to drive my 2 front Martin Logan Odessey Speakers, I want to use the rear channels in the 5 channel ADCOM amp to bi-amp the speakers.

How do I set this up so that it is BI-amped to the 2 fronts and using only the rear channels of the receiver for the sourrounds(Room 2?)? I want all the other amps in the Onkyo off, but for the 2 back channels.
