I am really thinking about buying this new receiver, but first I would like some opinions on the receiver, other than my own humble one of course. Any other receivers with the same specs and tech. in it that you can think of would be appreciated too. Thanks!

It's only been out for around 2 weeks; I wouldn't expect any professional reviews that fast.

you read it wrong

I do not care if there are any professional reviews, I just wanted some public feedback on the receiver and what people think about it!

I guess YOU will have to be the first one... Search for reviews on the 802 and get an idea of what the 803 should be improving on.

There is no 802, the 801 was the last model.

I haven't heard it yet, but I think I'd save the 200 bucks and get the 703...

When we get it in the store, which will hopefully be in by the end of the week, I'll let you know how it goes.

I read the manual for the 703/803. The only significant difference I can see is the HDMI switching for the 803 and the max sampling rate supported for DVD-A.

I'd probably pick the 703 over the 803 because I'm not sold on the need for HDMI.

Ok, I got it all setup!

Honestly, unless you need the HDMI switching, I'd take the 703.

They sound the same and they look the same, and they weigh the same...

Speaking of weight, the 803 is considerably lighter than the 801. I don't know if Onkyo produced a power supply that is more efficient or if they are getting cheesy with their stuff, so just a heads up!
