Onkyo TX-SR705 upconverting issue

Hi,

So I bought this receiver used and so far I'm really liking it. However there's an issue. It doesn't want to upconvert the composite (RCA) input from my cable box for HDMI output. It does work as pass-through, so if I use the composite output from the receiver to the TV I get the video, but obviously I'd like to simplify this as much as possible and not need to use multiple TV inputs.

For settings I've done what the manual says, which basically is just to set HDMI Monitor Setting to Yes and it's supposed to automatically upconvert everything.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Hi. If you haven't already, check out the video "Troubleshooting" section on page 112 of the manual.

After reading that section, I'd suggest following the steps on page 48 of the manual and making sure that the "HDMI Input" setting for your cable box is set to "---".

Also, it mentions that if the "Pure Audio" listening mode is on, the video circuitry is shut off, so it won't convert video in that case.
