Moved into new home with built in speakers in the ceiling. Have a onkyo sr608 receiver which I hooked up to the speakers center, and both front to test the speakers. They all work but then I went to tuner on the receiver for FM & Am listening and got nothing. No static no sound. I even went out and bought an antenna (indoor) to get signal but to no avail and no sound. Will that be the case when I setup the hdtv and blu-ray player with the rest of the speakers? I wanted to test the existing speakers to see if they work but did not get anything. What have I done wrong...? Suggestions please.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm a bit confused and wondering if you'll clarify this for me. It seems that you state at first that at least three of the ceiling speakers work when you tried them out with your Onkyo, but that you didn't get any sound when you tried the tuner? Is that correct? If so, what source were you using when they did work?

I first went into speaker setup and checked the speakers for any sound and got static with each. So assumed they worked. Then went to tuner for radio listening and got nothing. Hope that helps

When you were using the tuner, did the "TUNED" indicator light up on the front panel? It might just be that you aren't getting radio reception.

Also, make sure that you have the volume turned up sufficiently and that the "MUTING" indicator isn't lit up on the front panel.

Do you have another source to connect, such as a disc player, iPod, or TV?

The tuned indicator light did not come on. Volume was up high and no muting light was on. So, maybe I'm not getting any FM reception even with an antenna? So, I should try another source to see if we have sound?

I'd say definitely try a different source. If the TUNING indicator doesn't light up, I don't think that you'd get any sound at all (not even static because it's a digital tuner).

Just be sure to turn the volume back down before you try a different source. I'm not being patronizing - I've just learned from my own mistakes. :D
