Onkyo tx-sr607 hook up ?? help.

Hello to all. Newbie here who can not get my tv to play thru this receiver. My cable in has only a coax which I have hooked up to coaxial 2(cbl/sat) using a coax -rca adapter. No signal. Or should the cable connection first go the the tv so I can use the optical digital out? My LG tv is hooked up to the 607 using HDMI and I am able to watch dvd movies.
Do I need to get a cable-in box that seperates my signal into individual components to make this work? The manual shows seperate audio and video on page 29.
I have gone thru the assign set up and believe I have that figured out. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

You can't route a cable television signal through the Onkyo (nor any receiver that I know of). So, you'll want to do what you mentioned - connect the cable television feed directly to the TV, and then connect the optical audio output from the television to the receiver. That way, you can listen to the TV audio through your receiver.

I have my cable routed throught my Onkyo, but I am in South Korea and my box has HDMI on it.
