Please help me decide between refurbed Onkyo TX-SR602 or new Denon AVR-1905 both around $399.
Torn between the two, any guidance would be greatly appreciated ...
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.

Both are decent entry level units. You can get a higher end Pioneer 1015 for $40 dollars more. Are you near a Best Buy - if so, go demo it (and try to lift it, it's massive). That unit will run circles around either the Denon or Onkyo.

I installed the 601 for a customer and I have to say I was surprised at the power output. It was easy to setup and pretty full featured, and the 602 has the Auto-setup feature. I've never been a fan of Denon's lower stuff, so I'd say the 602 would be a good choice.

Weight doesn't tell you how it sounds, so yes, you have to listen to it. The 1015 will likely have a few more features than the 602.

I have the 602,purchased new.It is a very good receiver & not entry level.I had my choice of any one in the $500 range.Performance & build quality are more important to me than "bells & whistles".The 1015 will not run circles around it.Onkyo has a long history of excellent receivers with very good amps dating way back to the days of plain Pro-Logic.You won't go wrong with either one.
