(1) Bought the ONKYO TX-SR508, rather please with its performance, so far. Anyway, what puzzles me is the way the AV Inputs have been labelled ... BD.DVD IN, VCR/DVR IN, CBL/SAT IN, GAME IN. why don't the Manufacturer just labelled it as HDMI1 .... HDMI 4 respectively afterall I believe the End Users will definiitely make full use of the Four HDMI I/Ps available? That's what I am using currently 'cause I believe the HDMI inputs are just switchovers (hope I am not wrong about that). Thanks
(2) Where is the AUX source input located? Unable to find it even though the option is on the Remote & Front Panel. Thanks again.

1. Mainly because it's always been that way. Having specific labels on the inputs makes it simpler for those not all that familiar with audio equipment.

Sometimes, certain HDMI or other digital outputs are pre-assigned to a specific input too and cannot be changed. On recent Onkyo models with a front HDMI input, the front input cannot be assigned by the user and is always assigned to HDMI 4 or Aux.

2. Aux is probably the front HDMI input.

The earlier reply was correct. The HDMI ports must be assigned and they come pre-assigned as labeled. I did not re-check the manual on this, but if I recall correctly, they can be reassigned if there was some reason to do this. Incidentally, I just recently bought the same AVR.

Great. So now we are speaking the same "language". Anyway, I am still trying to figure out how to do the Speakers TEST.
