will the Onkyo TX-SR506 be enogh to push this system:

Polk monitor 60(front), cs2(center), monitor 40 (rear).

Already have the recevier just need speakers. I can get those speares from newegg or $530 shipped. But do i have enough receiver?

If not then mabye something like the klipsch cinima 6 or 8 was another option.

the room is 17x22. counting the kitching it would be 25x22 ceiling is approx 13-14feet high in the middle. cathedral ceiling

Seeing the discount on the polks was wondering if the receiver can handle them and if it's a good little setup. I bought a ed a3-200 sub already

So your room is about 6000'^3 that's a decent sized area. A 506 will power those speakers but I wouldn't expect it to get too loud. That's also going to be a big room for that sub. You'll get clean audio but not a ton of volume.

does that mean the room is to big for the speakers? I know it's a nice size room but limited on funds. I figured the ed sub from what i read is a nice little peice.

hell with it i went ahead and bought the polks. I can always upgrade later and move this setup to the bedroom. looked to be a real good deal and it should be a nice little set-up. hope it gets loud enough

It means you may need more power to drive those speakers to higher volumes in the room. They are pretty efficient but 70W isn't a huge amount of power so you may have to buy a higher power receiver.

You're putting together a nice budget system I just don't want you to push it too hard and blow something up.

Being a current 506 owner I would say your room is to big for the 506. I would be looking at the 806. A 706 may be enough but the difference in price is not huge compared to the 806. If you look around you can find some good deals on the 806. But make sure you buy from an authorized dealer.

Remember one thing. It's easier to blow speakers with to little power than it is to blow them with to much power.
