Onkyo TX-NR809 No Sound Issue

Welp, my Onkyo TX-NR809 apparently has the dreaded HDMI board issue that is caused by a faulty network chip.

Luckily Onkyo is making good and repairing or offering a $175 rebate to those with the issue. I don't want a new Onkyo receiver (no Audyssey) so I'm opting to get mine repaired. I was considering getting a new receiver anyway for my office so if it comes back working it'll actually save me money.

So I'm glad I decided to test it today and not wire up the new theater with it only to find it broken. Yay...I guess.

As long as they still can replace the bad board....my Onkyo went out earlier this year and tje process was quick and painless and it runs cooler now to boot...

That would be nice. This receiver has had HDMI issues of one sort or another since I got it. I was going to use its zone 2 to power my computer desktop speakers in the office along with the future 5.1 setup, but the extra zones are analog only. So it wont do everything I want, but it'll be good enough for an office setup.

I didn't have any issues until I did and knowing the extended warranty was on its last legs, just glad they could still repair rather than be out of stock on the board...had a similar issue with a Pioneer avr post warranty and just used that for whatever continued to work until it crapped out completely.
