So three months of living a wonderful life with this receiver and now today, the usb port starts and stops, then the cd channel, will not kick in until the ipod has already started playing, then gets plugged in. o_O cable works great from my laptop to my ipod, so I havent a clue. on top of this the remotes "setup" button no longer works. I emailed onkyo and they stated i could buy a new remote for 20 dollars. Since when is a three month old reciever and remote already starting to not work considered go buy a replacement time?! anyone have any tricks to get this to start cooperating or is it RMA time?

Have you tried unplugging the reciever for a few minutes and then hopefully it would reset itself.

If it was bought new 3 month ago, it should still be under warranty, including the remote. Tell them so.

Read in the owners manual and see if it has a way to do a system reset (processor) that just unplugging does not do. You will loose your Audessey settings but it might help. If not RMA time.... Crutchfields has them for $249.00 NIB. Maybe you will get a good one. Don't stack on a AVR and make sure it has venting space above it. I had major isses with a TX-NR805, sending it in for warranty repairs 2 times while it was in warranty. 3rd time a month after warranty expired HDMI parts fried again. The 509 is a Good deal for a HD 5.1 but not if it has to be shiped back for repairs every year and you pay freight. Yamaha , Marantz or Denon for me now... No refurb unless real factory Dealer .. be carefull. I hope where you purchased it that they are a real Onkyo Dealer.

I belieive that their e-mail system is automated.
You need to speak to a "LIVE"person if thats possible.
Onkyo is producing junk these days.
I have an 18 month old 807 that is on its second vacation at ABL service center for the no speaker no sound issue:mad:
They are well aware of the problem yet refuse to acknowledge that a problem even exists, even though its plastered all over their OWN forums:eek:
They even have the audacity to offer you a discounted refurbished unit if yours is out of warranty and you send in your out of warranty unit.
I guess you could call it their"Junk for Junk"reward program:D
As soon as mine gets back its up for sale and a Denon 4311 will be proudly taking its place in my rack.
