Hello Everyone, after 25 years my old pioneer sx303 finally went (I never really liked it anyway) I've been looking at the new 2 channel receivers and frankly haven't been too impressed, so I started trolling eBay and just won a tx-36 in mint condition for $50.00, I remember looking at these new in the 80's but count not afford one, I just need a good receiver for the garage but didn't want anything chintzy, it will be powering a pair of technics slb71's any thoughts??

Yeah, try it out and see how you like it.

I bought a brand new HK 3390 on ebay for $128 plus shipping. Sounds real nice - comes with a 2 year warranty too.

Ebay is a great place to shop.

From what I can see from the manual; it looks like decent receiver.
Provided it works it will be more than enough for the garage.

But IMO you probably paid too much.

Yeah I probally pulled the trigger a little too fast on the deal, just didnt see anything under 200.00 new that I liked. How do the older receivers sound compared to the new 2 channel units?

Not much has changed in Onkyo's 2 channel receivers in the last 20 years.
It will sound just fine.
