Onkyo SR-TX608: flashing PCM and HDMI, sounds cut off

Hello to all,
I have quite often on my brand new Onkyo SR-TX608 the signals PCM and HDMI flashing, and the sound gets cut off in an anoying manner for a few seconds. This phenomenon can repeat itself about 4-5 times per film. Do you have any idea how to fix this? It does the same on all the ports, it doesnt do it when the box is connected directly to the TV, bypassing the onkyo.

I posted this in response to someone else who had a similar problem. Maybe it will help you.

Not sure if this is the problem however, I have a 5007 and it would lose sound every once in a while. I have ATT Uverse and before that I had Comcast. In the menu on the cable box you can choose "stereo" or "Surround Sound". When I had it on "Surround Sound" this problem happened. I switched it to "stereo" and have not had a problem since. Of course this is only if the problem only happens when watching cable only. Other than that on one of my 607's I found I had a bad HDMI cable causing the same problem. Hope this helps.
