Onkyo P-304 Preamp Balance Control Problem

The balance control on my Onkyo P-304 preamplifier works but not without a lot of scratchy noise when turning the knob, or complete cutout. Any ideas if it can be fixed? I tried a bit of contact cleaner with no improvement but am not sure if there is a better way to get the cleaner where it needs to go. I sprayed carefully from the front and rear of the rotary control after removing the cover.

Any ideas? I have this matched with a Onkyo M-504 which is in great condition and may want to sell the pair depending on what they are worth. I am in the San Diego area.

Thanks

The carbon resistor track has broken up in the control. Your only solution is to replace the potentiometer.
