That is a good price for a referb. I have one of these at home pushing 3 zones in my house and one of the Integra versions in my office and they have been great. Low noise floor as well.

Would this add more power to a 5.1 setup or just 2.0 for vinyl? Sorry for my naivete with amps.

Unless you had a very underpowered receiver I would not use this in a 5.1 setup. If you had a preamp and were looking for amps to run a system then it would be fine. I use it for my 2 channel system at work (I have an old marantz pre-amp) and for zones in my whole house system.

It's the same amp section as the 100watt receiver the TX-8555. However the 189.00 asking price is not all that great in my book when I can get a new one for 229.00 from authorized dealers.

I had one, it has the same sound as med grade onkyo receiver... They dont like 4ohm loads though... I had Mine in the garage and it used to shut off when ever I pushed it... Not a bad unit to add to a current receiver for a little more headroom... Now instead of 200watts for your 5.1, you have 200 watts for your front 2, and 200 watts for your 2 surrounds and center... I like the Dayton apa150 better though, its smaller, can be bridged, had auto on feature, built in xover, 4 ohm capable, Only $158, and to me sounds cleaner...

Is the Dayton still available? I have the Emotiva BPA-1 that it's based off of over here in Afghanistan with me. Used to have three of them but broke the speaker inputs on two of them during a move.

Parts Express has them at $158 shipped. Appears to be standard stock item.
