My advice is don't settle for an inflexible and compromised home theater in a box setup. I'm not singling out this product in particular, I'm talking about HTiB's in general.

If you are truly an "Audioholic", you'll want better performance and flexibility than what these systems offer you.

If you just want to jump into home theater with both feet, go ahead and get a system such as this, but, as your A/V knowledge grows, I doubt you will be satisfied in the long run.

Also, as far as I know, Crutchfield charges MSRP for almost everything. I'm sure you could find a better price if you looked a little harder.

The receivers Onkyo includes with their HTIB systems are nearly identical to their 5xx model receivers you can purchase separately. Buying the HTIB gets you speakers as well as the receiver. Because the receiver is separate and not an all-in-one receiver/dvd player like many HTIB systems, you can keep it and use it if you upgrade speakers later.

You won't get anywhere near the price of the HTIB if you buy a receiver and speakers separately so from that point of view the Onkyo HTIB systems are pretty good, but you may find later that the speakers just don't cut it and will want to upgrade. A good subwoofer typically costs more than the whole HTIB.

I understand where your comming from, but im just getting my feet wet in the audio world and i just wanted a good beginner setup, and i thought that setup would be a good place to start, the big thing i was looking for was a good amp in the setup, i dont mind replacing the speakers at a later time when i have more money, but i looked at the features and i thought the amp should be good enough for the next few years especially since its a 7 channel unit and cosidering it comes with 7 speakers and a sub. Im going to assume since the price is so low that the speakers are probably not that great and the sub is most likely a joke but i already have a subwoofer from my stereo, and i was going to try my 2 DCM time windows speakers for the left and rights, i was just wanting some input on my thoughts, i mean if there is some thing better i could do to fit my bill for around the same price id love to hear any suggestions

I've installed the 780 previously and for the price, it is a decent system. The weak point is definitely the speakers though (sub being the weakest link); that is why it doesn't cost much as you already know. It will fill a small to medium size room without trouble.
