Onkyo HT-RC160 vs TX-SR607

I am in the process of replacing my speakers that came w/ my Onkyo SR304 w/ some real speakers. Right now i am planning on getting the EMP e55ti for the fronts, the EMP for the center and a Chrysalis sub. The question is about the receiver. It's a low end SR304 (60w/channel). So i was thinking if i don't get new surrounds (Emotiva ERD-1) i could use that budget for a new receiver. Both of the above mentioned receivers are within $30 of each other (349 vs 379)

Thoughts?

So you think the receiver is a better use of $350?

ANy why the 607? The tech specks look VERY similar.
