Onkyo HT-R590 video problem

Got an Onkyo HT-R590 a few months back. I've been really happy with it and it's been working like a charm until a couple weeks ago. Started getting intermittent video loss with my PS3 - image would go to a black screen on my TV with an occasional cut back to the image, and then back to the black screen. I would still have the audio, only the video was cutting out.

I have my cable box, PS3, and a computer all hooked up to HDMI inputs, and the HDMI-out to my TV. The cable and computer were not affected at all. When it first started happening, I would turn off the receiver, unplug the HDMIs, plug everything back in, and turn the receiver back on, which seemed to fix it. But last night, I never even got an image at all. Just a blue screen, and this time I got the same blue screen trying to view my cable as well. I tried the same method as before but this time it didn't work. I tried switching the HDMI-out cable thinking maybe it was bad, but that didn't fix it either. I haven't tried changing the HDMI cable hooked up to the PS3 yet but I plan to tonight.

I was just wondering if anyone's had this happen to them and what I might do to fix it. Maybe factory reset on the box? HDMI cable issue? Bad input or output connections on the receiver?

Thanks for any help.

Start with the cables, just as you have already done.

Someone else will chime in soon about Onkyo quality as of late. If I remember correctly, there have been several complaints of HDMI boards and Onkyo. Definitely not what you want to hear about now.

Thanks for the info, good to know. Hopefully it's still under warranty if the HDMI boards are bad. That would suck, because the thing sounds awesome. Would hate to have this problem happen again because of bad parts. fingers crossed its just a cable issue
