my future plans for speakers are a set of Ascends and something from svs, i would like to get a pb12plus/2 but one thing at a time... might hold out for the ultra 13...

with both being pretty much the same receiver in a different box and the 875 can be had for under $1k and I would be surprised if you could get the 7.1 for under $2.5k its a no brainer for me.

The Onkyo has a better scaler, no competition at all.

The question is do you even need the scaler? I don't, though admittedly Im the rarity. Nice choices on speakers and sub. If that is any hint, Im sure you will choose your electronics wisely as well.

thanks...

id really like to see what outlaw is going to come out with... but..

i would think as far as video prosessing goes i would think onkyo would be the best choice...

i just want to make sure it is almost future proof... but i guess good luck with that... i bought my ds777 with the same in mind... lol

just out of curiousity, what would be a fair asking price to sell my ds777?

I wouldn't let the video scaler be the deciding factor. I got my 7.8 a few months ago and one of the first things I did was to bypass the video scaler. It's generaly accepted to let the tv do the scaling (assuming it's a half decent tv).

Having said that the 7.8 is the Integra variant of Onkyo's 805, not the 875. Some of the spec's on power etc will be slightly less than the 875, but not to worry because it willl still deafen you in your bunker made of couch cushions.

What's the price difference between the two where you are?

Onkyo has the Reon chip, so that should do good for your video needs!!!!
