Onkyo 605 video connection question - HDMI and Compnt?

I have a question regarding my Onkyo 605 and was not able to locate an answer in the manual or by searching the fourm.
I've got a Samsung 5054 plasma (720p) using the Onkyo's hdmi output. I'd also like to run an Epson 720 projector (screen drops down in front of plasma) via the Component video connection.
Assuming one display device is turned off while the other is in use, can I switch back and forth between the plasma and the projector when I want to?
Maybe a more simple way to frame the question is this: Are both the hdmi output and component video output live on the 605? Thanks in advance for all the help.

The answer is YES. If you unfamiliar with your manual it is a little hard to intrepret.

The 605 will upconvert the signals see page 24. set HDMI monitor=Yes. If you have component-in it will produce HDMI out as well as component-out. Both are active at the same time.

HDMI in however will not produce Component-Out only HDMI out.

Thanks for the response! Just to clarify... my PS3 is connected to the 605 via HDMI. If my projector is only connnected via the component video connection, can I not view blu rays on the projector?

from what the previous person posted it sounds like you would need to run the ps3 through the compenet to get the picture on your projection screen...

it doesnt sound like it would accept an HDMI input (your PS3) and then play it out on the Component cables (going to your projector).

Thanks... I re-read that post and you're right. I'm fine doing it that way from a video standpoint, but I'd hate to lose DTS HD MA and TureHD. It looks like I may just invest in an inexpensive HDMI swither from monoprice. Thanks again.

I have a PS3 in the my media room. While PS3 seems to have a more robust setup for HDMI, the component setup will provide the same resolution.

Connect you PS3 via component and set at 1080p then connect your projector via component.

You will obtain the same PQ as HDMI.
