Onkyo 602 quality problems?

I was considering the Onkyo TX-SR602 or the 502 version maybe, but to my surprise have read alot of internet reviews that people had defective units and multiple defective units - hardly ever heard of such a thing with receivers

Does anyone know if in fact Onkyo had some serious quality control problems with these units?

Would also welcome any recommendations in this general line of product such as the Yamaha RX-V550 - 650...etc...

Speakers will likely be B&W

no, i personally have never heard of those issues. i have a 502 going on sixth months now without any problems. best bang for the buck in my opinion,vg sound quality as well,definitely give onkyo a shot
