Onkyko txnr1010 ? If using the "front high" speakers, can you still use 7 channels ?

Looking to upgrade the HT receiver. I notice many of the newer receivers have 9.2+ capability. With the Onkyo TXNR 1010, can I use my same 7 channel setup and add the 2 "front high" or "front wide" speakers, or do they pull the power from the rears, so you have to choose one or the other? I currently have a dedicated amp, but my guess is that in setup it might make you choose one setup over the other, so you have to choose either typical 7.2 and have the rears functional, or 7.2 and have the "front wide" functional. I DL the manual and couldn't find what I was looking for. Thanks for your time.

If the 1010 is like my 3008 and is a 9.2 channel device, then yes. You'll have the ordinary 7 channels plus either the front wides or the front heights (but not both). My 3008 also lets you use both the front wides and front heights, but then you to give up the surround backs. (Surround "rears" generally refers to the side surrounds, not back surrounds.)
