Onkya TX-SR507 Audio Problem

Hi,

I bought this AV Reciever two years ago and it is now out of the guarantee period. Since last couple of months it has developed a problem.

When I start it, it works fine, but after 10 minutes or so it starts making ghrrr sounds and starts skipping audio. Making me switch it of or listen from the TV. What could be wrong with it and what kind of bills should I expect.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Ali

I wouldn't expect bills, because the cost of repair outside of warranty is likely not worth it. $100 just to look at it in most cases. Chances are good one of the PC boards inside is failing, but you can call Onkyo tech support and they may have some suggestions such as a full factory reset or firmware update to see if it is something that can be "refreshed".

There is a thread somewhere about how to change the HDMI board on the Onkyo, which also has the sound as well. Maybe someone has a link? If you are handy you can do it yourself and fix it. In the meanwhile this may help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0x5S9ez5U also check out this thread it might be the one I was referring to: http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/amps-pre-pros-receivers/78229-time-downgrade-onkyo-receivers-junk-status.html I had a 707 and had a cheap amazon laptop fan on top of mine and never had a problem.
