av123 recently started a sale on speakers. I could get a pair of rocket 760's for $800 or sig 850's for $1000. This now puts these in my price range.Anyone had any experience with these, or is there a better way to spend a grand. This will be my last upgrade for sometime(raising Family), so I need the best I can get for the money. Right now I have some polk rti28 bookshelf speakers and though they have served me well I need more sound, so floorstanders are almost a definite. Please help, I have to make this one count. Thanks

I'd say you'll be hard pressed to beat these guys for $1K. Floorstanders do not necessarily give you "more" sound, that really depends on the overall speaker design, but you do usually get a lot more bass with a big floorstander. In this case, the 750s or 850s WILL give you a lot more sound though...:) Is this for 2ch or HT? Sub or no sub? What will you power them with?

I will use them for 2 channel and HT, and initially will only be powered with an older Onkyo receiver. I am considering a yamaha 2700

I assume that you know that you can only get those prices when you buy at least one more speaker. That said, it is an amazing deal.

I currently use Rocket 450s in the front and rear and am upgrading to the 1000s up front because of the current sale.

Based on reading way too many posts in the AV123 forum, I would highly recommend the 850's, well worth the $200 investment (with current sale prices) over the 760's.

Their subwoofers are also supposed to be well worth the money, if you're looking into one.
