I'd agree that the "true price" (not MSRP) difference might indicate the Rocket's a better speaker, but speakers are so subjective, you'd really have to listen to them.
Folks that own most Rockets swear by them and on the flip side, almost everyone I've ever spoke to/chatted with that've listened to or owned the VR3s are very pleased w/their performance.
If aesthetics are a high priority, I think the Rockets are some of the most attractive speakers available with their finishes. The VR3s do have a nice cherry veneer finish and I think they're good looking, but aesthetically, I don't think they really compare to the 760s.
As for performance, I can't comment on the 760s as I've not heard them personally, but I can vouch for the VR3s being very detailed, throw a very wide soundstage and do just as well with music (two channel & hi-res) as they do with movies. I've had these for over a year and a half now and I'm quite satisfied with them.
