One Paradigm PS-1200 vs. Two Velodyne VX-10's

I am looking at purchasing a (one) used Paradigm PS-1200 subwoofer. I can get two Velodyne VX-10's on sale for $199.99 each plus tax brand new.

Should I go for the single used PS-1200 or buy two new VX-10's??

The application will be for 90% home theater.

Thanks for the help!

How do you like your PW-2100. I am also looking at the PW-2200.

I like my PW-2100, much better performance than my PS-1000. My setup is located in the basement with low ceilings, so the sub is really overkill. I had the sub over at a fellow HT addict demoing it with his 5.0 setup consisting of PSB Stratus Golds/Silver/C6. It really brought out the bass he was missing with running his speakers at large and feeding them the LFE. It showed me what the sub could do in a room large enough too handle it. To bad he was more interested in my NAD T773 that I'm selling. Sent you a PM.

While I agree 1 sub is easier to intergrate than 2, in most cases 2 subs if calibrated correctly can vastly improve your inroom bass response.

Example. I have the Velodyne DD15 which replaced my Velodyne ct100e. In my room I have really only one spot for the DD15, next to the left speaker. while running the Eq I have a suckout at the listening position at around 60Hz and throwing more eq at that spot dosent really help much, so I stuck the ct100e next to the right speaker and hooked it up. What I found was having the 2 subs fixed the suckout, and walking around the room with the eq mic showed that virtually anyware in the room had a reasonably flat responce. So using 2 subs can help with the effects of room accoustics on bass.

I decided not to run the two subs simply because I didnt want the ct100e muddying up the sound of the DD15. So in the future I will seriously consider a second DD15. But I need a dedicated basement first as I have problems with the neighbours with 1 DD15 :D

But I dont know if 2 VX-10's are better than 1 PS-1200

cheers :)

BTW, how loud does the DD15 go? Can it literally shake your walls? :D

Hell yes! It shakes the neighbours walls and windows as well :D , see this thread
Ive measured 121db at my couch with the sub volume on 25 out of 100

cheers :)

I agree that two subs almost always results in better bass integration. It's also easier to pressurize the room with two subs (at least given the models you've described.)
