If you have any inclination, you could watch youtube videos and fix it yourself. I did so with very basic tools - short tester, a screwdriver and a bit of credit card to a vendor in TX who could replace ICs on the boards.
I fixed my Panny plasma all in all for about $105.
I think your wife is correct, move 65" to the bedroom and get a new TV. I won't recommend 2017 Samsung TV. They have dropped the ball on backlight full-array - went with side lite only and it's not great. They've learned from their mistake and 2018 Samsung would be much better, especially QLED, which actually maybe finally exchange swings with OLED panels, but if you're in rush, just get the Sony X900e or f
