Older Receiver w/ Multi Room HDMI support

It's been a while since I've posted anything on this great site, but it's again that time to ask for the subject matter experts suggestions. I have been thinking about upgrading my Yamaha RX-V2500 to a receiver that not only supports hdmi, but also has multi out hdmi support. I'd like to keep my options sub $800. I'm OK with older or refurbished/used units. I've typically been a Yamaha guy and from previous experience stay away from Sony and Onkyo (Onkyo because setting up their units seemed to be a nightmare). Any suggestions?

Welcome back!

I don't know much about Yamaha's latest receivers, but out of the sub-$800 Denons, Onkyos (which you don't want), and Pioneers...I'd go for either the Pioneer VSX-1123 or last year's Denon 3313. I've seen the Pioneer for as low as $430 on Newegg (but that was a heck of a deal), and the 3313 is selling for $800 right now on Amazon. The Pioneer compares well to, and beats IMO, the Onkyo TX-NR626 that sells for about $500. I don't think that Denon has a new model with dual-HDMI outputs in your price range, but the 3313 has three HDMI outputs.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any limitations to having multi zone hdmi outputs? I'd hate to buy a new avr and have my flexibility limited by purchasing a avr with this type of functionality...
