I just picked up this old tube amp. It's made by Sargent-Rayment out of Oakland, CA. The model # is SR 534. I have a Sargent rayment pre-amp as well, model # SR2000. Everything seems to work fine, and it sounds good. Does anyone know anything about it? When it was built?

I've been looking all over the internet and can't find any real info.

Here are some pics that I posted on avsforum

Pretty cool. How does it sound compared to your Pioneer? Is it powerful?

I hooked it up to a single Athena S.5 just to see if the amp worked, and I've never heard the athena sound so full. Very powerful sounding. I think I read somewhere that it's rated at 17 watts per channel.

I think I opened a door that should not have been opened (for financial reasons alone). I hooked the amp and preamp up to some Klipsch towers (KG 4.2). Now I understand the obsession with tube amps paired with Klipsch. Now I need to go find a pair of Cornwalls or La Scallas :D I also need to clear some room to set this up permanently. I'm sold.

From the limited info I've found on the web, it looks like it was made in 1959. The tubes are Amperex and made in Holland. There are four 7189, one GZ34, and two 6AN8 tubes in the amp. The preamp has two 7199, and four 12AX7 tubes.

I'll take some photos when I get everything set up if anyone is intereseted.

Does anyone know of a place that works on/restores tube amps in the SF Bay Area? I'd like to have an expert check this thing out before I blow it up. It has been sitting in a garage for the past 10-20 years.
