Old speakers new System?

I have an older sony receiver that I am in need to get rid of. I currently have it hooked up to my pc and it sounds decent. The dolby pro logic that it has built in doesn't seem to be working correctly. I have already found the new system that I want to buy, but it comes with puny speakers. Here is the problem. My old speakers only have inputs for speaker wires on the back and my new system only has outputs for rca plugins. Do they make converters for this or am I out of luck.

Here is the new unit I want to purchase.

That system is not made for connecting other speakers. What kind of speakers do you have now? It is very possible that those "tiny" speakers could sound better than your current ones.

That Logitech system obviates your receiver.

It has it's own built in amplifiers but it doesn't look like it has a built in 5.1 channel decoder built in; i.e. this system will not accept a digital input. The digital to analog conversion will have to be done in your sound card, which must have analog outputs for this system. These are usually three 1/8" mini plugs, each of which has two channels.

You hook it's "six color coded cables" (analog inputs) to the six analog outputs on your sound card. You don't use the receiver anymore.

If your sound card doesn't do this, then this does not appear to be the speaker system for you.

Of course, I could be wrong...

And, Hi Ho has a good point. Some of these new "puny" speakers sound much better than they have any right to. I use these two channel speakers and you would be amazed at how they sound for their size. http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=VS2221

Marks right. That system does not require a receiver.

If you don't know if it will sound good or not, listen to one at Best Buy or Circiut City. They usually have one setup.

BTW, those sets sell for very cheap online. Don't buy it from Logitech.
