old speaker -> subwoofer

I have a old AR speaker with about a 8 or 10 inch woofer and stuff. I was wondering if I could make that woofer into a subwoofer by buying something like this: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-782

or is there more to it than that?


the driver does not appear very efficient so i was figuring a subwoofer with it's own amp would be its best use.

i don't really know much about this sort of thing, but i would like to learn...so that's why i'm asking.

Absolutely. I had a friend who took apart an old pair of speakers and made two subs out of the 10" drivers it had for his garage. They didn't have very good power handling, and I doubt those will either, so, your right in just getting a little amp.
