Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to read about your troubles. It could be that the lens has gotten something on it (like dirt or hair) that is preventing it from being able to read the discs. There are a few ways to clean those lenses. You can get a special disc that cleans it, you can clean the lens yourself by taking the unit apart enough to see the lens, or you could probably just open up the disc drawer and blow compressed air or even a hair dryer across there in an attempt to clean off the lens.

There are others here who know more about this than I do.

Thanks for the advice I actually took apart the unit and blew compressed air for keyboard cleaning and still no luck so my thoughts are to replace it any suggestions on a decent player it will be paired up with my sony40 v3000 no surround and I really dont need blu as it is already in family room,Thanks..

Sounds like you don't need any bells and whistles. You could just get an inexpensive DVD player - they are a commodity any more and aren't very expensive. I've had good luck with my Panasonic player, which was $130 about five years ago and is a five-disc changer. You can get a single-disc DVD player from a big name (like Sony) for under $50.
