All- I've sort of asked this before, but accounting for my existing setup aside and price aside. If you wanted a solid tower speaker, between these 2, what do you reccomend?

feel like I'm comparing the "upper high end" tower of Axiom to the "flagship" of Polk. Meaning I "know the M80's are better than the RTi12, but I'd rather get the m60's. Has anyone copared these, or had experience w/either?

Also, thanks all for your help.

I'm not familiar with the Axioms but I had the Polk RTi12's at the top of my "Wish List" until I heard them... I wasn't impressed. I think you can do better for less money. I picked up a set of Paradigm Monitor 11's for considerably less than what the RTi12's run and I'm convinced they are FAR superior to the Polks. ;)

I hate to keep sounding like a Paradigm commercial but I really am THAT happy with the speakers. :D

The Polk LSi series are their flagship models. The RTi series is just below the LSi in "ranking".

That said, the RTi's seem to be favorites amoung HT people, while the LSi's are better received by those who are musically inclined.

The best comparison between the RTi's and LSi's is that RTi's have a bright, forward sound that is quick and responsive, while the LSi's are fuller and sweeter with greater detail.

Meaningless words, unless they describe the sound that you desire.

By the way, the Axiom's have been reviewed as being closer to the RTi's in style and sound.

Personally, my suggestion is buy what you like.

I auditioned both the LSi's and the RTi's and I couldn't have expressed my feelings any better. The RTi'12s were quite bright...I'd almost say tinny with little midbass character. I was not impressed either...especially at that
price ($1399 at Tweeter). On the other hand the LSi15...at only $100 more was a different story altogether. Quite detailed, nice midbass and excellent bass when driven with a high current amplifier. They are, however, 4 ohm speakers so be prepared to offer them some juice. Even a quality AVR will not bring out their best.

I've got an ATI1502 driving my LSi15's and it's a great improvement over my Denon 3805.

I've never heard Axioms...couldn't find a dealer in my area. But I hear they are very good speakers. Hopefully they sound better than the RTi's though!

Of course this is the best advice anyone could possibly offer!
