I need some opinions again... Looks like im not gonna try and get a cheap buy on a surround package ill just piece together my HT 1 piece at a time.. Seems like the smartest investment strategy.

So.... My fronts.

Can I get HT quality fronts for 500?? CDN? id rather not spend more then that. Unless its a huuge jump in quality... So you fellow canadians... where and what should I be getting you think.

This is what i want out of my HT..... I want the wall shaking bass, doesnt need to be real punchy because i wont be using them much for music just for theatre realy... but its gotta have some boom for those explosive movies. I want detailed sound... the difference between listening to these speakers is i want a large range in freqency especially in the high range.. i want to be able to tell the difference between these and my logitechs and as much as most of you audiophiles and phytes might not believe... those speakers are thx certified and thx has hiiiigh standards andthey do sound great... but a little bassy and muffled i think... prhaps it just might be the audio codecs that come with the videos i download im not sure. But, i do want some at least mid range fronts wether they are floor standing speakers or bookshelves wih a lot of oomph or just excellent satellites... i need some advice... please try and keep it within 400usd cuz if i get them from the states it will likely be another 50 to ship and id like it to be under 500cdn if i can help it.

Thanks guys your always a big help

Justin

Building a system from scratch is the best way if you don't have the money now. Since you are a fellow canadian, the best way to get the most bang for your buck is to buy canadian speakers. I would suggest that you look at paradigm. Since you want it for ht, I would suggest you look at the paradigm mini-monitors. They are about 380 before tax, but you will have to get a stand for them. Since you want big bass for the explosions, it is going to cost a fair amount of money, the best bargain sub that I have seen on the market is the Hsu stf 2. You can find it here

http://www.homedigitalav.com/HSUSubs.html

Then when money permits you can add the cc370 and adp370 to the system.

ive been looking restlessly to find a good deal on paradigms and there is actually an ebay big for a guy selling his whole system piece buy piece with mini monitors cc170 i believe and a pair of adp170... i think i could manage to get them all for 500... sound like a deal?

they are said to be in prestine condition

that isn't a bad deal, but with the cc170 is really kind of lacking, and if you are using for mostly ht, then this is a key component since about 70% of the movie is reproduced by the center channel. I would check out this deal
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/3913-paradigm_monitor_3s_and_cc270_both_v3
seems pretty good to me, get a good set of speakers and a better center channel, the 3's have an 8" woofer and the cc270 is the step up from the 170 which only has a 3/4" tweeter, while the 270 has a 1" tweeter, you would be happier with this setup.

Thanks

Thanks allot for the post of that local sale on the monitors, I just bought the 2 monitor3s and the cc270 for 600canadian no tax. Pretty descent deal if i do say so myself. And now ive got 60% of my speaker shopping done. Thanks again.

Ciao
