Wife and I are building a new house. She gets to decorate and I get new gear.
The room the gear is going in is a family room 20' 10" x 15' 3" X 9' which is open to dinningm, kitchen and foyer area via 8' foot arches into the dinning room and Foyer.
I would like to stay under $5000.00 range for Audio and Video.
I currently own
Video- Hitachi 65" rear projection 1080i which is about 4 years old and hopefully will sell failrly quickly when ready. Will be replaced with 52 LCD or Plasma for casual television viewing on a daily basis.
Directv - HR20 with HD programming and NBA league pass
BR and games via PS3
Rec- Yama 5840
Speakers- Fronts are Energy Pro Series 4.5 for L R which have seen many years of use as these came from my grampa when he passed. Yes he was an Audiophile.
Center and surrounds are the Klipsch Quint lll
Sub- Klipsch SUB 12
As you can see I am in need of full upgrade.
I would like to purchase a 5.1 system that comes in a package but not a HTIB.
My listening will be 80% Blu-RayMovies and Sports, 18% games and 2 % Music.
In the budget is included a projector and a Tensioned Electric screen.
Projector I am buying is the 8100.
Screen I am looking at is the from HTdepot Size I am looking at is the 106" to 110" electric tensioned screen they sell.
I have price for both Screen and Projector at roughly $2000.00 +/-
Speakers is where I am havng the most difficulty.
I would like to buy a complete 5.1 speaker system and have keyed in on a few products and would truly appreciate any insight into the products.
Speakers I am looking at but certainly not limited to.
Axiom Epic grandmaster package or the Epic 50 package
Klipsch RB 51 or RF 10 packages.
Please suggest any other packages that you feel are worthy of a listen or possible investigation by me.
If I went with the Klipsch I could incorporate a two sub setup with the current sub I have.
If I went the other way and got a decent floor standing system I am looking at the Monitor series from Paradigm L/R/C with a good sub from HSU,SVS or Epik (sentinel). Doing this I would use either the Energy's or the Quint's for surrounds.
Again budget is limited at this time due to building the new house.
Please use the following budget criteria.
Screen/Projector - 2000
Speakers-2000
AVR- 1000
Thanks, Jeff
