When my receiver is set to 6 ohms because that is what my fronts and center are, but I want to use a secondary amp for extra surrounds from pre out, can I set the secondary to 8 ohms?

The setting should always be 8 regardless and will not have a problem with 6 Ohm speakers. The setting has no relevance for an external amp.
