Hi all. I have some issues understanding ohm.
currently Im using yamaha RX-v465 with speakers of 6ohm. So I thought of upgrading my speakers.
The thing is, can this amp plays 8ohm speakers? ... thanks

To make it simple as possible, a speaker's impedance (In ohms) varies with the content applied to it. Your AVR may have an easier time with 8 ohm speakers but there is much more information required about the speakers to make a proper assessment. Do you have the speakers make and model number?

Will you be using a subwoofer with the speakers? There should be no issue driving either of those speakers. Although there is no constant ohm across the frequency range, where lower ohms tax the amplifier the most is typically from 200hz down

FYI, basically all receivers are 8 Ohms. That means a typical 8 Ohm speaker should not represent an issue. Yes there are a number of other factors, but you should not have an issue with the speakers mentioned.

@ crossover - subwoofer? yes. Planning to upgrade my sub to ASW 250. From where Im staying, 10'' woofer is more then sufficient.
Should there will be no problem, I may get A 25 too from Boston. Finger crossed ... :)
