Oh Man I'm in Trouble

My new speakers came yesterday.:D:D

And I did not tell the wife. You should have seen the look on her face when she saw the box on the front porch. The box is like 5 feet tall and weighted over 150lbs. I only had time to bring them down and place them next to the others. Out of the box and with the base they will only be about 10 inches taller.

I got an amazing deal on these that I could not pass up. I have had the Wharfedale EVO 30's now for about 6 months. These are the newer line and the biggest model in that line The EVO 2 50. This model over the other EVO's has a softdome mid range just like the flagship Opus line. In fact the retail on these is only 500 less than the top of the line Opus 3.

The finish is Rosewood and as you can see from the photo's is very nice. I really like it. I have them next to my existing EVO 30's.

Here is a better view of the finish.

View of the top and the soft dome tweeter and mid.

I also had some other great news. My contractor will start on Monday so I will be getting the wall built and my ceiling done so I will actually have a finished room in about a month!!

Anyway just wanted to share. Now I have to get back to work.

Hope your experience with your contractor is a positive one.

When I brought the 100's home last month, she was way more mad than I thought she would be.

Thanks guys! I am really psyched to do some a/b listening this weekend with the old ones.

Well to soften the blow I am now paying for sreening in the front porch along with the theater work. I guess it is a small price to pay (well maybe not so small. It will cost more than twice the speaker price:eek:)

That is the good news. He was the forman for the company who did the remodel on my office building. He was injured on a different job a year or so ago and they screwed him when he was to go back. We are trying to hire him as our facilities manager here but as a non profit we have to through many hoops to hire a new employee. I'm glad I can hire someone I can trust and help him out a bit until he gets a full time gig.

Gorgeous speaker. But you PUT IT ON THE TILE without a soft support for the base? Ahhhhh!!! Did it not come with spikes or rubber feet?
Enjoy the speakers. Now you need the matching center. ;)

Good choice I really like Wharfdale speakers. I had a set of Wharfdales about 12 years ago, can't remember what model they were but they sounded great..

I did not have time to install the base with the spikes and pads. I will do that tonight.

Actually the center in this line has not been well received. I liked the Diamond 9.CM (sealed 3 way) much better than the EVO centers. Now if I could find the OPUS center that may be a different story.

Now this is a man after my own heart. All men reading this should take note. WAF .

Excellent Highlander. From a cosmetic stand point, they look like a nice up-grade. :D

Thanks I really like the rosewood much better and I do hope they sound better. When I demoed the Wharfedales to begin with they did not have this model so I have not heard it. I did get to listen to the Opus line and I really liked them so I am hoping they have the same qualities.

Darn you, Highlander!!! I think that my stream of drool just ruined my keyboard. I couldn't stop...it was like I was in a trance. Beautiful new speakers, and congrats! I really look forward to reading your impressions on them once you have a chance to sit down and enjoy them.

Oh...you will pay..."revenge is a dish best served......."...they have a way of charging you, eventually.
Hee, hee. Good one, RJ! I'm guessing that if Highlander's wife is like that, though, he already knows that all too well. :)

“It’s easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission.” - Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper

And YES, the late admiral was a woman.

Thanks for that. I knew that expression had been a while but I never would have guessed it came from a women.

Thanks I am have a hard time at work today knowing they are sitting there waiting for me.

Oh and I am paying. Paying for the porch work, taking us out to dinner this weekend and at least a case of wine and a couple bottles of vodka. I think she gets the fact that she should not battle with me about my gear directly and just negotiate to where she gets something out of the deal as well. It has been a tough week on the stereo front. Last week I showed her the new in-ceiling speakers for the bedroom and well lets just say things were quiet the rest of the day.
