Office System...???

So I want to put a decent little 2 channel system in my church office where I'm director of music....Right now I have one of the the Denon UD-M30 shelf systems that comes with the Mission monitors....

I'm thinking of getting a Denon 2308ci as that can be had for $439 from Dakmart right now....Any other suggestions on that front would be welcome. I will be using my left-over Denon DVD-1930ci as a universal player for CDs and such...or a left-over Denon 5 disc changer but that is larger....

The next thing is where I am torn more than the receiver....should I keep the Mission monitors and get a sub. OR, should I just get some better bookshelf speakers and forgo on the subwoofer until later. I am inclined the say go with the sub as I looked at the documentation that came with the monitors and they are 6ohm and have a frequency response down to 75hz....they are only rated for 50 watts but this is office listening so it won't be loud to begin with. I can use the bass management on the AVR and set to 80 or 100hz and let the sub pick up everything else....

So basically its a choice with going with 2.1 or 2.0 to start with as that's all my budget allows for the moment. Eventually I would upgrade the monitors if I went with a sub, or vice-versa, I would get a sub if I bought new monitors to begin with....

Any ideas would be great....thank you all...

This is an office. So I don't know if sub is a good idea. Your office mates may not appreciate it. I know I sure wouldn't. I think some decent bookshelves are as far as I would go.

Don't give me any ideas now....:p

I think the monitor route is the way to go for now....I used to have an Infinity 12" sub from whatever the line was prior to the beta in this office and it was fun...especially when listening to organ material. SVS has some MBS-1's that have been on their b-stock page forever and they are 599...just not sure if I want to spend that much, but it is tempting....

Thank you gentlemen...

So I kind of went in the other direction and decided to keep the Denon execituve system as the Mission speakers sound nice and it will play plenty loud to fill even the entire parish office building...

I actually got hold of a HSU VTF-2 MK3 in Oak (which matches the Mission monitors) for $415 which I could not turn down....Should be fun listening to all my organ recordings in my office now....:D:eek:

Cambridge audio integrated amp, your disc player as mentioned, and a pair of svs bookshelf spkrs....The Denon is too much pre/pro to be used just for 2ch rig imho. Though that Denon would make for a great pre/pro in a home theater mated with a large multi-channel amp.

The 2308ci I mentioned to begin with dosen't even have pre-amp outs to use an amp with...not to mention I have a 3808ci at home....
