Hello folks.

Has anyone had any experience with the Odyssey Tempest Pre Amp, and their Power Amps?

Can anyone share any experiences or opinions with Odyssey products?

Anyone have any thoughts on Odyssey?

I'm seriously considering the Tempest for my system (Living Room), which at this time consists of the ....Anthem MCA50, NAD C542 CD Player, Hafler 110 Pre Amp (which I'm looking to replace), and a Pair of Paradigm Monitor 9 v.3 Speakers.

The Paradigms may soon be replaced by a pair of Wharfedale Opus 2. I'm finally going (after months and months of searching for a dealer who has a pair ) for an audition. It took a while, but I finally found someone (dealer) who has them set up for a listen. But I regress.

I also need an Amp and Pre Amp for my Quad 22L speakers, in my home office. So the Odyssey products are being considered for this application, as well.

I have had my eye on the Stratos from Odyssey. The reviews have been very good & the specs look impressive. The only thing that bothers me is that they have a 30 day return policy but on their website say that it takes about 6 weeks for the unit to be fully broken in.Also the fact that if you turn the unit off it may take all day for it to recharge for use again.

When you are talking about high powered AMPs, there is always a need to wait for the unit to "get warmed up." In the case of the Odyssey amp, my friend owns the 3 channel stratos, and has on order the stratos mono blocks. He has been breaking in the 3 channel for about 3 straight days, and said the unit keeps getting better and better. Yes 6 weeks is a long time, but if one is willing to spend several thousand dollars on an AMP, then it sounds like they are an audiophile to me, and should be willing to cope with the break in period, and warm up time of several hours (days).

I own a Parasound HCA-1205A 5 channel AMP, and it takes the unit about 3-4 hours to fully warm up, so I know this is not unusual. I just leave the unit on all day that way I don't have to wait for it to warm up. The unit should only be pulling about 150-200 watts when on, but not amplifying any signals, so its not like your just wasting tons of electricity.

Once my friend's 3 channel has fully broken in, I will try and post back what his thoughts are on the Odyssey, but so far he is very pleased, and can't wait for the mono's to arrive. Also keep in mind, Klaus is a little back ordered right now, so if you know you want them I would order ASAP, to get your name in line.

Just my 2 cents.
