I was watching a M.A.S.H. rerun and portions of the audio sounded like it was recorded through a tube, like you had a cardboard tube against your ear and the other end was against the TV speaker.
This was not a hardware problem, rather how the audio was recorded or remixed by the show. It wasn't a problem, but I am curious as to what caused it to be that way. I've noticed it on a few episodes.
