Wow another anti Marantz rant with little to go on....you'll be a favorite among the fan boys of the brand.
What do you mean little to go on!
The fact is that Sound United were bought as a vanity project by the CEO of a medical equipment company Masimo. It has been a disaster and that is putting it mildly. The CEO was voted out by the board.
Sound United have been loosing money hand over fist. That is data that is available and I have reviewed. So they have been bought by Harmon Int. which is a subsidiary of Samsung. The Monopolies commission will take until at least the end of the year to approve the sale. If not approved then who know what will happen as Masimo can not sustain the losses. This is all public record, which you can confirm and not a rant.
My 7705 AVP failed at five years and could not be repaired due to lack of parts and has been recycled.
My 7706 failed at three months. It has been in for warranty repair for two months and I have received no communication from Marantz. I don't think that can be considered in any way acceptable
I did purchase a Marantz AV 10 as options are now very limited for AVPs. This was a risk I felt I had to take. But I certainly hope it will not develop any faults, at least until Sound United has a "safe harbor". If not I fear Sound United will likely disappear or be sold off in parts.
You can call that a rant if you want, but those are verifiable facts. This is something anyone contemplating purchase of a Sound United product should certainly consider.
