I'm new to the whole ht scene and i was wondering about the volumes of the rear surround sound speakers. While i am watching movies i dont always notice sound comming from the rear surround speakers. So my question is should i calibrate the rear speakers to higher levels or is it just most of the time theres not much sound comming from the rear?

You will have to set this up in your reciever but then some movies you will find not much sound comes from the rears, what are you running for equipment ?

That's not unusual. Listen to what Basshead said.

Music strives to generally heve some sound in all channels but movies are different. Movies don't have constant sound in the surround channels. They only come into play on the rare occasions where the director feels a little atmosheric reinforcment is needed.

You can turn it up as much as you want but if there's no information there to begin with it won't make a bit of difference. You'll simply have louder silence.
