Not getting any sound out of rear surround speakers

Recently set up my Denon S920 with 2 Polk tower speakers. Last night I tried to add two rear surround speakers (fairly old pair of speakers not sure what kind exactly). When I used Audyssey to set them up the test sound was coming through find but no sound comes out when I use my TV. Any ideas how I can solve this

Rear surrounds are for 7.1, regular/side surrounds for 5.1.

Ps more info about source, connection and sound mode might help....

Might not be any surround content in what you were watching. As loving mentioned what was the source of the sound from ie sat, cable, ota? Is the source connected to the tv then the avr?

No content no sound. Switch the green movie bottom on the remote to multi channel stereo and verify they are getting content post Audyssey and you're fine.
