We just had someone get car jacked in our parking lot and SHOULD have gotten a good video of the guy from our el cheapo night owl security system. We brought the cop into the office and pulled up the cams but CRAP! They quit recording a month ago! I feel like crap. We use the system everyday in live view but there is nothing on that page that indicates a problem with the recording function. We also had it setup to email us on errors but it never sent anything about not recording. It sends emails if we unplug a camera tho so I know the email function works. We power cycled it and sure enough it started recording again. My company is cheap so they didnt invest much money into this system. I spent 4 times their amount on my own home system. But it makes me sad and angry that we dont have the damn video. I'm the only one here capable of setting this stuff up so ultimately it was my fault. Nobody got hurt thank god, but someone just lost a car. What a crappy day. What a completely terrible and crappy day.
