My signature has my set-up. To be able to be set-up for front height speakers, the manual shows pre-outs on the back of the A/V receiver. Does this mean that I would have to hook another A/V receiver or into the system to power the front height speakers? Would an older stereo receiver work in this case, provided it has RCA inputs??

This stereo manual reads like, well, a stereo manual...confusing to the layman.

HELP!!!...And thanks!

*EDIT* I'm accustomed to older car stereos, as well as older home systems. The newer technology is a bit confusing to me. Will the pre-outs work with the volume of the rest of the speakers?

Hi jplinville,

The preouts would be connected to an amplifier not a receiver. While it may be possible to use a receiver in theory, you would end up with level matching issues and the need to adjust the volume on two different components. Just get a small two channel amp that matches the wattage of your receiver.

If you want to do it, highlander's advice is the way to go: but honestly I don't think it's worth the trouble. You'd get a much larger improvement getting a matching front three.
