finally got my receiver hooked up yesterday night, didnt have enough time to play with it yet, however there is a few things that i couldnt get to work that i found a bit weird:

1. cant get the setup menu to project on my tv, tried connacting a cable to "'monitor out" on the receiver, also tried via hdmi, plugged my dvd player to hdmi in 1 and then hdmi out to my tv. i tried pressing "setup" on the remote, but it only shows up on the receiver. how can i get this to work?

2. this is the first time im hooking up my speakers and receiver. their image series psb speakers. they arent broken in yet, but i noticed that after putting a movie on 5,1 dd, the sound wasnt that loud (at volume - 34) now im not sure if thats beacuse i still have to go through the setup or not, its shows dolby digital on the receiver, i changed it to digital ex on the receiver, put loudness on, and it wasnt that loud. not sure about this at all, my firend has a similar receiver which is a bit older, and at -34, his is really loud

3. lastly, i connected my back speakers to surround back right and surround back left, however on the front of the receiver surround left and right light up instead of the back ones. is there something wrong, or its normal?

let me know if im missing any information that is needed. any help would be appreciated as unfortunately i dont have much time when im home to play around with it at the moment.

1. HDMI switching is for video only, which means you'll have to hook up audio cables as well. Additionally, the receiver won't convert composite, S-Video or component-video sources to HDMI output, and the onscreen menu display doesn't work via HDMI.

2. Are they the same speakers? You speaker sensitivity is fairly high 90 Anechoic and 93 dB typical listening and a low power setting should drive htem fine, -34 may be too low. I would not compare your AVR level reading with another system too many variables. Does it work fine if you turn it up? if so don't worry.

3. Are you talking about the front display showing SR and SL ? these are the sound input sources , not the sound output channels. Your surrounds are making sound , correct? If so, then no problem.

thanks
1.) so if i connect them using composite cables, its should work?
2.) you are probably right about this, i will try putting the levels higher, the highest it goes is +12, i dont want to put it too loud since the speakers arebrand new and need some breaking in
3.) yeah they are displaying SR and SL, and their is sound, so I guess everything is okay, my oppo also recognizes it in the setup menu as SL and SR instead of back speakers

1) For setting-up the sound and using the TV screen, composite should work. I think even component might work. It is just that for your specifc AVR (and lots of others) will not output the setup display in HDMI.

2) agree, but I am thinking just little higher, not +12, you know maybe -30 then -25 or something like that. Again depends on your system and yes I would somewhat gently break-in the speakers.

3) I don't think you havve a problem here.

Good Luck enjoy your system ; it sounds nice
