No video/sound

I have Samsung LN46A650 LCD flat screen
Pioneer VSX-1018AH-K. I also have a blue ray player with this new system.
I have the blue ray player connected via hdmi to bd on back of the receiver,
also have the t.v. hook up via hdmi to hdmi 1 to the receiver and optical cable from t.v. to receiver. when i switch over to hdmi source on my t.v. i get no picture on the screen when playing blue ray disk. the,vcr works fine. I'm also not getting any sound from my speakers,i double check the wires/instructions and seems i have it all hook up right. I am frustrated that it won't work right. what am i doing wrong?

Sounds like an assignment issue. Go into the menu on the AVR and make sure that the assignment is correct. What BD player do you have? Make certain it is set for HDMI.

Whay are you also hooking up an optical from the TV?

Okay,
I did make sure i have the source on the correct setting in the avr menu.
I have HDmi in <In-1> enabled and,Hdmi <in-2> for blue ray player are also enabled. I made sure i have the receiver on hdmi 1 and it is.the only why i have the optical to the t.v. to receiver,so i can get dolby 5.1 on t.v. or,do i need that since i have hdmi ? the instruction say's to use optical.

Here are my settings,
S-video off
Comp-video off
hdmi in on t.v.
hdmi in on blue ray
hdmi ctrl off
sr+ setup vol ctrl off.

any settings i should have enable?my blue ray player is BDP-95FD

The only reason you would need the optical is if you are trying to watch TV and you dont have a cable or sat box.

You still have an assignment issue going on somewhere. You are certain that you have the HDMI going from the BD player to the "input"on the AVR and you have the HDMI "OUT" going to the TV?

Can you get the radion to play?

Yeah,they are in the correct jacks.
As i'm typing i have the bd selected on the receiver to hdmi 1 and i'm not getting any picture at all.
my friend is out of town,and should be back thursday. and see if he can see why i'm not getting picture or sound.
