I am trying to hook up an 16 year old Mirage PS 12-90 to a new Pioneer Elite vsx-30. Just bought the Elite as an open box. Been using the sub with a old HK receiver for years.

Sub feed by cable from subout on the Elite.
I have gone into the Speaker Setting in the Manual SP setup menu.

Front set to Small or Large. Have tried both.
SW set to Yes
All others are off as there are no other speakers used.

Go to Channel lever.
Set level for Front.
Set level for SW. Tone is played and I set the level control on sub. Yes I hear the tone.

But when I play a source only the Sats play. There is no sound from the Sub.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Front speakers to small and set the crossover to about 10hz above the satellites' lower limit and give it a try. Or you could just run the receiver's setup program.

Make sure there is no "source direct" or "pure direct" (or whatever Pioneer calls it) mode turned on, as this will defeat all bass management and set all speakers to large regardless of your setup.

Make sure your are connected to the sub pre out on your AVR. Sometimes one connects to the sub input in the Multi-channel input section by mistake.

SMALL setting.

Set the crossover.

That should get it.
